You will learn about the Balinese Calendar and Alphabet, written down on lontar leaves, you will make Balinese offerings with your own hands, and you will enjoy a local lunch served in their traditional house.
In a little Balinese village you will see the structure of the Balinese houses. You will learn about the offerings that the Balinese make for their Gods and about the herbal medicine that they use, called “boreh”. You will also learn about the Balinese Calendar and Alphabet, which do not have anything to do with the western ones. You will see how they write down on lontar leaves. These are very important, as many knowledgements about medicine and others have been written over them and, currently, they are in a museum in Amsterdam. Finally you will enjoy a Balinese family style lunch.
